Welcome to the homepage of the Kappa Deuteron chapter of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, located at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in the heart of downtown Atlanta. On this website, you can explore to find out more about our brothers, our house, and our guiding values. If you're a freshman, check out our rush section and stop by our place during rush.

Spring Semester Update:
With new younger leadership at Kappa Deuteron, we would love to see everyone, alumni included, come up to the house to meet the new faces. We will be holding various social events focused on getting more alumni interaction and involvement with the brothers throughout the semester. We hope to see you soon!

IMPORTANT HOMECOMING TIME CHANGE

I had followed the (incorrect) alumni webpage for the times of the homecoming luncheon and game. These ARE NOT at 12PM & 3PM as stated earlier (and STILL INCORRECT on the alumni website). Instead, the food will be served at 10AM because the game starts at 12PM (noon). We hope to see you all there.

This is a long overdue update, but I think now would be a good time to announce a reminder for the upcoming homecoming for our alumni. Homecoming this year is Saturday, October 20 against Army. The following events are scheduled this year:
:. Homecoming Golf Tournament (Oct. 19, 9 AM)
:. Alumni Get Together (Oct. 19, 4-8 PM)
:. Alumni Night Out (Oct. 19, 9-11 PM)
:. Trustees Meeting (Oct. 20, 9 AM)
:. Homecoming Lunch (Oct. 20, 10 AM)
:. Homecoming Football Game (Oct. 20, 12:00 PM)
:. Homecoming Reception (Oct. 20, 8 PM-12 AM)

IMPORTANT: To register for any of these events, you must do so through our alumni homecoming webpage, which contains more details for each event.

In a related note, Jeff Groves, KD705, has scanned in and uploaded a number of photos he took at Phi Sig from the 1980s. You can access them at the following locations:

If anybody has their own photos they would like me to add, you can contact me at shane at gatech.edu.

RUSH!

As promised, I have gathered our menu for rush. You may notice that a lot of fraternities on campus have elaborate and expensive games, inflatables, and so forth as "rush events." At Phi Sig, we prefer to get to know the rushees rather than using gimmicks to try to impress them. In addition, this frees up more money for our active social calendar the rest of the fall. Even if you have no desire to join a fraternity, we hope you get out and go introduce yourself. It never hurts to know a few upperclassmen to help you with books and professor recommendations, drive you to buy forgotten necessities for dorm life, or show you some of the dining on or near campus (or away from campus, if that's your cup of tea).

All novelties aside, we do have perhaps the best food menu on campus. One of our in-house brothers, Blake Hall is a certified chef with a bachelors in the culinary arts from The Art Institute of Atlanta. He has created the following menu, which is available on our calendar:

-Day One-

Georgia Barbeque: Slow Grilled Brisket and Peach Barbequed Chicken Legs with Chilled & Loaded Potato Salad & Sweet Bourbon Baked Beans

-Day Two-

A Taste of Italy: Cold Antipasto Platters, Baked 4-Cheese and Caramelized Red Onion Ziti, Classic Homemade Lasagna & Garlic Bread

-Day Three-

Gourmet Burgers & Dogs: Pancetta & Blue Cheese Burgers, Pressed Cuban Burgers, Mexican Chili Burgers with Queso Fresco, Guinness Poached Bratwurst and Apple Smoked Sausages

-Day Four-

“Like Mom Used To Make”: Red-Wine Braised Pot Roast with Roasted Baby Carrots, Tomato, Onion and Fennel served with Rosemary Scented Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes and Yeast Rolls

-Day Five-

New Orleans Nights: Gumbo with Shrimp and Scallops and Jambalaya with Chicken, Sausage and Chorizo

-Day Six-

Latin Mixed Grill of Jerk Rubbed, Bone-In Pork Loin, Grilled Sausages, Chimichurri Chicken Breast & Flank Steak with Roasted Plantains and Spiced Rice and Beans.
This night is by invite only, so please make sure to come up and see us before!

In addition, we will have pick up games of basketball, pool, etc throughout the week. We hope to see you there! For directions, click here.

As summer is beginning to wind down and the fall semester is on its way, we recognize that many of our visitors to this website are incoming freshmen looking into the greek life at Georgia Tech. Please have a look around and for more information, go check out GT's fraternity council. Rush starts on Friday, August 17 (which is the Friday before school starts) and continues for just under a week.

If you're considering rushing, please check out our rush page or you can contact us for information about greek life, our fraternity, or Georgia Tech in general (including courses, social life, etc). We'll try to ease you into your first semester as best as we can. If you're interested in or worried about the expenses of going greek, check out our cost comparison page.

Please check back soon for an event calendar relating to rush at Phi Sig.

The Cardinal Principles of Phi Sigma Kappa are the development of brotherhood, scholarship, and character. There is nothing in our Cardinal Principles about prestige, the most beautiful house, the best social program, "number one on campus" in intramurals, activities, etc. These are all "frosting on the cake." A fraternity chapter which truly serves its purpose helps its members in their own personal development. Thus a chapter which pledges students who are already top scholars and which wins a scholarship cup year-in and year-out does not perform any distinctive service. The same is true of character. The fraternity can and should take average college students and help them develop their own character, and help them to learn to live together in brotherhood.
